Bird Songs

Bird Songs is like birdwatching in the wild with a guide. The user must try to memorize the names and songs of various common bird species. They then will have to discriminate between images of different species of birds and between different types of songs. These differences may sometimes be subtle, making this task especially challenging.

Learn more about this exercise:

This cross-modal task mainly involves the right tempo-parietal region of the brain. The purpose of this exercise is to draw upon our working memories of each bird’s visual and auditory characteristics, to practice visual-spatial scanning of the images on the screen, and to practice concentration for this type of material. In some cases, deductive reasoning is needed to choose the right match, eliminating the choices that have already been made and those that are most obviously wrong.

In an increasingly noisy world, detecting meaningful sounds amid general background noise becomes crucial. This exercise may translate into daily life by helping the user learn to follow a conversation with multiple speakers, listen to and critique music, and observe a news broadcast for relevant information.

You can modify:

  • The number of series (from 1 to 5)
  • The number of singing birds (from 2 to 6)
  • The memorization time per bird (10 seconds to unlimited)
  • The recall time (from 20 seconds to unlimited)

Over 1,100 unique exercise configurations and significant data set depth.
